Norton DNS Public Beta Setup for Windows
Check if your computer is using Norton DNS
To quickly determine whether or not your computer is currently using Norton DNS, go to setup.nortondns.com. The image will display a red X if your computer is not properly configured. Otherwise, if your computer is properly configured, a green check mark will be displayed.
Setup for Windows
Client Installation
To quickly install Norton DNS with the client software:
- Click the Download Windows Client link.
- Open the nortondns-win-current.exe file.
- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
- Click Finish and you are now using Norton DNS.
System Requirements
Operating Systems Supported- English Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-bit) with Service Pack 2 or later Home/Professional/Media Center
- English Microsoft® Windows Vista® (32-bit and 64-bit) Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Ultimate
- English Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate
- 10 MB of available hard disk space
- Must meet minimum operating system requirements for Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Win7
- Internet Connection
Manual Installation
To manually change your DNS settings to use Norton DNS:
- Open the Control Panel from your Start menu.
- Click Network Connections and choose your current connection.
- On the General tab of the Connection Status screen, click Properties.
- On the General tab of Connection Properties, scroll down and select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click Properties.
- On the General tab of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties, select Use the following DNS server addresses, then enter the two NortonDNS IP addresses 198.153.192.1 and 198.153.194.1.
- Click OK until each window is closed. You are now using NortonDNS.
To disable or uninstall Norton DNS
If you installed the Norton DNS client, simply uninstall it, and it will revert your DNS settings back to how they were previously.
If you performed a manual installation, follow the same instructions above, but on step five, select Obtain DNS server address automatically on the last screen (or replace our NortonDNS addresses with your recursive resolver IP addresses).
